with Textbook-Style Display by Mozilla-Based Browsers

To try an interactive computation session with MAXIMA with textbook-style output by late versions of Netscape, Firefox or Mozilla, follow these steps

  1. Make sure you are using NN 7.0 or higher and you have installed the required Math fonts.
  2. Start a new MAXIMA session.
  3. Enter a command.
  4. Receive a result.
  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed.
  6. Finish the session.
Commands are in infix form. For example,

    factor(4*x^4 - 1)

    ans : diff(sin(x)^2,x)

    integrate(ans,x)

Textbook-style display is achieved through MathML and NN support for MathML. For more complicated mathematics expressions you need fonts for Math.
